Lagos shuts down fifty unlicensed Nationwide Lottery stores

The Lagos State Government at the weekend said it'd prosecuted over 50 defendants participating in prohibited lotteries operations in the state. The state government consequently warned that it would bring the entire weight of the law against any operator in the Lagos State Lotteries Board without proper licence. According to him, the Lotteries Board has detained and prosecuted previously over 50 suspects for engaging in illegal Lottery operations. Gbajabiamila insisted the board "stayed the only statutory regulatory body for lottery and related activities in the state." He explained that the board was established by the Lagos State Lotteries Law 2004 (as amended) and authorised to license and controls gaming activities conducted within the state. He explained that the board neither issue nor recognises 'sports lottery license/permit' or 'promotional lottery permits' by whatsoever name called inside the state for operations. Gbajabiamila consequently advised members of the public against patronising prohibited operators. He recorded some of recognised licensed operators enabled "to conduct lottery and related activities in Lagos State to include Premier Lotto Limited (Babaijebu), Victor Golden Chance Ventures Limited (Golden Chance lotto), Winlot Global Resources Ventures Limited (Winlot), Superior Games Limited (Big Games) and Softplug Gaming Nigeria Limited."
